Virginia Divorce Mediation and Other Family Law Mediation

In the role of mediator, Mr. Robinson meets with both parties (both parties must attend and participate in each mediation session) and helps their negotiations with one another. As a mediator, Mr. Robinson is neutral.  He does not provide legal advice to either party and he does not advocate on behalf of either party. However, as an attorney, Mr. Robinson can and will provide the parties with extensive legal and other information that will help them reach a settlement. His task is to help you both reach your own agreement on all issues related to your matter, whether it is divorce, post-divorce, or some other family law matter.

Because a mediator cannot provide legal advice, each party is encouraged to communicate with their own legal counsel when legal advice is needed (before, during and after the mediation process).  If an agreement is reached, Mr. Robinson will help the parties draft their written settlement agreement. Each party is encouraged to have the draft agreement reviewed by their own legal counsel prior to signing it.

MEDIATION COST: $200 per hour fee rate (1.0 hour = $200, 1.5 hours = $300, 2.0 hours = $400).

MEDIATION SESSION LENGTH: Each mediation session lasts from one to two hours (minimum charge of one hour).

NUMBER OF MEDIATION SESSIONS: It depends upon the issues to be resolved, the preparedness of the parties, and the reasonableness, rationality and fairness of the parties. If it is a divorce settlement (custody, visitation, support, assets and debts division, etc.), then most people most of the time will require two to four mediation sessions over the period of one week to several weeks.

DOCUMENTS TO BRING TO THE FIRST MEDIATION SESSION: You do not have to bring anything for the first session. However, you may bring to the first session any documents that you believe are important to your settlement issues.

ACTION: To arrange for a mediation session with Mr. Robinson, do the following:

Complete the form, check the box, and electronically submit the Mediation Session Request Form below.  When the office receives your properly completed form, a conflict of interest check will be accomplished.  If there are no apparent conflicts, you will receive a conflict of interest clearance notice by email (normally within a few hours) along with specific scheduling information (available dates, times and locations).  SUBMISSION OF THE FORM DOES NOT CREATE A RELATIONSHIP WITH, OR IMPOSE ANY OBLIGATIONS UPON, ATTORNEY RONALD ROBINSON OR THE ROBINSON LAW OFFICE PLLC.
